If you're like most people, someone you trust told you about Young Living so you tried it, and you totally fell in love with the oils. Then you began to tell a few of your closest friends and family about your experience and that was pretty easy because you believe in the products so much and people can see how the oils have impacted your life, so they try it for themselves too.
But then something bigger happens. You realize that if you build an organization with Young Living you can actually help an unlimited number of people. You may only know a few people but those people know a few people and before you know it hundreds of people are experiencing better health and wellness (thanks to you!). In addition to that you realize that through the compensation plan you can actually achieve financial freedom as well, and that means you can quit your job and enjoy life! But the best part is, it's not only you, those first people that you introduced to the oils (the ones closest to you that you really care about) will also gain financial freedom in the process because as you grow, they grow with you. In this model you can't grow without them and they can't grow without you, it's a win-win!
Its seems so simple, and it is simple but that does not mean it is easy, does it? When I began the process of systematic sharing, I found that some days it is hard, I mean really hard. For one thing some of my loved ones got their own oils and some didn't because they are skeptical. This is frustrating to me because I know these oils are amazing, I hear testimonials everyday from people who are using them and are getting completely off of prescription medications and they feel better than ever. Why wouldn't everyone want to do the same!? Sometimes it's not so easy to put yourself out there, you become vulnerable. Maybe you are like me and you are not very outgoing. I have to really push myself to open my mouth and say something when I see a situation that just screams "that guy needs oils!" and that too, is not easy.
Bret Harward says that average people strive to avoid failure but successful people embrace failure as a part of success. When it seems like I have been doing this for an eternity and there is so much rejection and the rewards come far and few between, I remind myself that network marketing is a FOUR year career. It's not a four month career, and not even a 2 year career. So I stay consistent and patient, because after all, what other job in the world allows a person to retire after four years with residual income?

Page 53 of the Four Year Career offers a nice illustration of how those four years actually look. I like to refer to this whenever I need a little perspective. Gary Young himself has said that he loves his Silvers because they work the hardest, and it's true. If you are in year one and two, you are in the launching phase and you are pushing uphill. You are working very hard, you are really putting yourself out there and the commission checks are just okay, sometimes you may even see a small decrease from one month to the next. As you move forward through years two, three, and four it starts to get a little easier, but you can't stop pushing yet. You are still in a building phase. The nice thing is though, that at this stage the money starts to get better, much better. It is at this time that you might start thinking about quitting your job because you have supplemented or exceeded your current income. After the fourth year you are in the stage of residual income, meaning you can just enjoy the ride. You have done all the hard work and now the money is coming in even if you take two months off to tour Europe.
This is the only business model in the world that allows ordinary people to achieve extraordinary financial results and all it takes is the proper tools and focus. Nothing makes me feel happier than when someone from my organization tells me that they feel the best they have in 15 years and also they just quit a job they hated. That is what it's all about! When I feel like giving up, I remind myself to step back and look how far I've come instead of how far I have yet to go.
See you at the beach friends!
